The trade mark name Galaxy notwithstanding the Samsung Galaxy J1 is a popular but less known brand from the Korean tech giant.

First announced in February 2015 it was the latest among the low end smart phones marketed by Samsung. The target was the medium and low end users of smart phone for whom the Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge could be out of reach due to financial considerations.

As soon as it was announced the phone made headlines because of the price tag. In addition; the attraction for the buyers was that Samsung Galaxy J1 comes in as many as three hardware versions. Two of these phones have 64-bit Marvel Armada Mobile chipset with both single and dual SIM options. The third one has spread trum chip that has dual core 1.2 GHz processor. This version also has dual SIM abilities.

The popularity of the handset is understandable is that it is entry level hardware material but offers a lot in comparison to its low price. A 4.3 inch display with 480 x 800 px resolutions, 5 MP rear cameras and 2 MP front cameras is added with 720p video recording facilities, GPS, FM radio as well as 4GB storage facilities. Users could expect little more for their investment in the smart phone. The SD card slot is also there that can be used to expand the memory and storage.

But the highlight of the Samsung Galaxy J1 is the 1850 mAh battery that can allow the user the luxury of ten hours of calling. The handset is made of plastic but because of the matte kind it becomes easier to handle the handset. This also protects smudges as well as fingerprints on the handset.
