Samsung is all set to arrest the attention of the global techies through customized editions of handsets for each market, be it colour or, memory capacity.
Koh Dong-jin, President of the mobile communications division of Samsung Electronics confirmed at a press conference in Seoul that to cater to the biggest Asian Market in China, Galaxy Note 7 would be customized with 128 GB internal storage capacity and 6GB RAM. The original version launched globally had a 64GB memory capacity. This movement is strategised to compete with the local mobile manufacturers in China who are coming up with handsets with higher memory capacity.
Post the global introduction, earlier this month in New York, Samsung arranged for this press meet to unveil the new Note series in the Korean market.
The price of Galaxy Note 7 in the Korean market is 988,900 won and it has three colour variants in gold platinum, silver titanium and coral blue. By October the company proposes to add the black onyx option for its home customers.
Galaxy Note 5 had witnessed less than 10 percent sales for its black model. The black model for Note 7 has been intentionally delayed. The company decides on the colour choices for the new models post analysis of past data. Additionally, Apple launched a new handset around the same time and owing to threat from competition, Samsung decided to delay the launch of the black model for Note 7 series.
This South Korean electronics giant also proposed to offer its customers with updated operating systems (OS) for Android 7.0 Nougat post analysis of user feedback in the next two to three months time.
The company’s President Koh stated that they believe it is extremely important to focus on updations in operating systems and incorporate these changes in the handsets for its users. However, any updations in OS will be done post proper data analysis in second phase of software testing.
